High school was a particularly memorable time for Jasmine. She actively participated in extracurricular activities, balancing her interests and academics with ease. However, the stability of her life was shattered during her senior year when her father passed away due to liver cancer. This tragic event plunged her family into financial turmoil, and Jasmine was advised to halt her education.
Determined not to give up, Jasmine placed her trust in her mother and took on various side jobs to support her education. She sold products to classmates, wrote poems, completed projects for a fee, and even washed dishes in exchange for food. Her relentless efforts paid off when she graduated senior high as an honor student on March 28, 2018.
Jasmine then enrolled at the University of Eastern Philippines, Laoang campus, and applied for a scholarship. Becoming an ASA Philippines scholar brought immense relief, allowing her to focus on her studies without financial worry. However, her challenges were far from over. She faced sexual harassment from a relative who offered her lodging, but with the support of friends, she moved to a safer environment.
Throughout her college years, Jasmine remained steadfast in her resolve. The support from ASA Philippines Foundation and her unwavering dedication led her to graduate cum laude with a Bachelor of Elementary Education on June 13, 2022. Jasmine credits her success to the continuous encouragement from her mother and the invaluable assistance from ASA Philippines Foundation.
Her journey through adversity has not only made her stronger but also instilled in her a deep appreciation for education and personal growth. Jasmine believes that there is always room for improvement and is committed to pursuing new learning opportunities even after graduation.
From the bottom of her heart, Jasmine expresses her gratitude to ASA Philippines Foundation for their support. Her story is a powerful reminder that with faith, determination, and community support, any dream is achievable.
